John Duigan service disruption

Bass Island Line’s (BIL) John Duigan is required to go into dry dock to repair a damaged stern tube seal.

As a result, John Duigan will be out of service until approximately 6 July 2020.

John Duigan is in transit from Melbourne and is scheduled to arrive in Sydney on Thursday 25 June and enter dry dock on Monday 29 June, where repairs are estimated to take four days.

Once in dry dock an assessment will be completed on the damaged stern tube seal, which will determine the cause of the issue.

BIL has made alternate arrangements to ensure continuity of service for the King Island community. This includes working with shipping agents to coordinate transport of essential freight direct from Victoria and mainland Tasmania.

BIL is committed to maintaining regular communication with the King Island community as the repairs on the vessel are completed.
