An update on the operations of BIL
Bass Island Line (BIL) is delivering on a six point Action Plan for the shipping needs on King Island. This will ensure we meet King Island’s fertiliser and other freight needs.

Our bookings show that demand is not exceeding capacity at this stage. Everything delivered to the port of Devonport has been shipped out.
There was space for an extra 43 tonnes of cargo on the sailing that departed Devonport yesterday (Thursday 11 May). There is also space on the next sailing departing Stanley on Sunday (14 May).
Here is is update on recent and upcoming cargo movements to King Island:
- As of the 12 May, BIL has delivered over 220 containers (including 71 fertiliser containers) to since 7 April.
- BIL has bookings for 21 containers (including 6 fertiliser) for the next sailing to King Island. We forecast around 155 northbound container bookings for the rest of May.
- The sailing that arrived in Grassy today (Friday 12 May) contained 25 containers (including 12 fertiliser containers).
- This Sunday’s sailing has bookings for 21 containers, including 6 fertiliser containers, 6 general cargo, 7 hazardous and two vehicles.
